Greetings from Maryland
I’m posting this from my hotel room in Solomons Island, Maryland. It’s been a hellaciously long day for so many reasons. I’ve had some rather bad luck with travelling since I got married:
- December Honeymoon: Tobago - Neary was denied boarding to BWIA flight from Miami to Tobago because they required the credit card we booked the tickets with, which was lost the day before the trip. Further, the flight was too slow and we were more than an hour late for our connection. They also failed to mention we had a connection. They also failed to mention that we had to clear customs before said connection. They also failed to mention that it was on a different airline, with a different flight number. Somehow, we still made it though.
- December Christmas Eve: Albuquerque - freak snowstorms in Houston and a delayed flight in STL forced us to miss our connection in Houston. Spent half of Christmas eve on standby hoping to get onto another flight. We made the next flight to ABQ 3 hours later. Our luggage, sadly, did not. It went to Phoenix.
- January: Bethpage, NY - Storms in STL forced us to sit in the terminal for 2 extra hours.
- February: Ft. Wayne, IN - Storms in Chicago forces us to sit on a small plane on the tarmac for an extra hour. The seat next to me was occupied by a forward from the University of Colorado’s basketball team.
- March: Bethpage, NY - Storms in NY forced an hours delay in the terminal and anther 90 minutes delay on the plane on the tarmac before eventually departing for La Guardia.
- April: Phoenix, AZ - Holy crap, we made it alright.
- July: Pax River, MD - Storms at Baltimore forced an hour delay on the plane at the gate in STL.
Otherwise, things are going better. Had a long talk with Mica tonight and wish that travelling wasn’t so hard on us. But alls well that ends well, and I’m off to bed now.
