Roll Over Beethoven
It was a busy weekend. Saturday, saw us heading for the zoo bright and early. It was a gorgeous day there, which means it was way too crowded. But we got in to see most of the exhibits we wanted to see and it was nice. After the zoo, we walked across Forest Park to the art museum.
Saturday evening, we went to the Ameristar buffet as planned. The food is just awesome there. I had a couple of filet mignons as well as Mongolia BBQ. And Mica’s parents came in to have dinner with my family. They spent most of the evening talking about the cruise we’re planning for next November. I believe my in-laws are going to come and they were quite excited to hear all the details.
But here’s what made dinner so interesting: sitting at the table next to ours was none other than the father of rock & roll, Chuck Berry. The first man inducted into the Rock & Roll hall of fame, he still resides in Missouri and plays in U-City at Blueberry Hill once a month. Our waitress told us she sees him in the casino at least 3 or 4 nights a week.
Sunday, we dropped my sister off at the airport and then took my parents to the Pere Marquette Lodge in Grafton, IL for brunch. Then we came home, dropped off the women and dad and I headed to Home Depot to spend my money. Cement, lumber, rebar, a wheelbarrow and some bolts and we had all the stuff we needed to reinforce the stairs on my deck. Last night, we put two new support columns in and framed out a concrete pad that we’ll be placing below the stairs. Tonight, we have to put the crossbeams in between the new columns and finish pouring the concrete for the pad.
