Surprise!
Since Mica reads this site, I couldn’t really mention all the prep stuff I’ve been doing for her surprise party last night. I’d arranged for her to take my mom out to the mall for a bit, so I could sneak in the cake I’d ordered for her and get all of the people into the house. I had taken the day off of work so I could start getting the house ready, and since it was my parent’s last day in town, I also wanted to visit a bit.
Unfortunately, Mica woke up with more back spasms and I took her to the chiropractor in the morning and she decided to take a sick day from work. So…. No house preparing for me with her at home. But she was feeling well enough to take my mom to the mall that night, so she went off and I had two hours to go to Costco for the cake and burgers and to the grocery store for some other party stuff. On the way home, I got a call from Mica’s parents saying they were already at the house.
So we rushed home, got the groceries unloaded, greeted more early guests and I got to run around putting food out. Amazingly enough, everyone got there before Mica got back. I thought she’d be tipped off by all the cars out front, but she exclaimed to my mom “Oh no, I wonder what Aaron broke! Everyone’s here to fix it!” Boy, was she in for a shock when she came in.
So all went well. Little hectic at the last minute, but pretty good. I think we had 16 people over. It’s about a perfect sized crowd for our house. And for once, I surprised Mica!
