There’s some lovely filth over here.
Today was just one of those days at work. Walked in to find an email from management wanting details on a problem we’ve been trying to tell them about since June. Less than 5 minutes later, another manager is at my desk wanting me to prepare slides on the issue for a noon meeting. So I spent all morning working on slides, which we spent another 2 hours reviewing and editing. And yeah, there were only 5 real slides. The real challenge was distilling a very complex technical issue down to a 10 minute brief. But it’s out, and things are good on that front once again. Until tomorrow.
I also had 3 emails this morning announcing that the Boeing Karate Club were having their annual meeting and officer elections next month. I’ve been talking to the president for over a year about becoming an officer as all of the officers qualify for free private lessons once a week. The first email was a meeting announcement, the second a note from the president telling me the treasure wasn’t returning due to work commitments and asking if I “knew of anyone interested”. The 3rd was a note from another board member saying she’d nomiated me for the treasurer position (she’d asked me a few months ago if I was interested). So we’ll see how that goes.
Finally, I put my resume in for a new job today. Been thinking about it for a while. I’m not in a rush to find a new job, but I got an email from my department head announcing a new position that I think would be a nice change, working on the Army’s Future Combat Systems. Not too worried if I don’t get it, but I think it’d be a good match and a great change.
