Busy busy

Ok, so I haven’t been able to write much lately. Things have been very, very busy. A quick summary of my last few weeks:

  • When I started at Boeing, I was paired up with a “senior” engineer. He’s recently accepted a management position on the F-15 program and is leaving. They split his work between myself and another engineer. We also have our existing jobs to keep up with so it’s keeping me very, very busy.
  • Mica’s hurt her back pretty badly. Still not sure what’s going on with everything. She sees the doctor again on Monday. I’ve missed some work, done a lot at home trying to take care of her. Really sucks to see her in pain.
  • 27 November was our first anniversary. We saw Wicked on the 1st. Awesome show, one of the best I’ve seen.
  • We went to see Riverdance last Thursday. Unfortunately, Mica’s back was hurting so badly, we left at intermission, but the first half was great. Unfortunately, I’ve never been around so many ignorant theatre-goers. I mean really, is it that much to ask that people show up on time, remain silent, refrain from clapping at the end of a solo during the middle of a song and quit giggling every time the dancers move when you paid to see a dance?
  • Looks like I’m heading back to Maryland the 2nd week of the new year. I have a feeling, I’m going to freeze my ass off.
  • 2 weeks from today we’ll be heading out to Florida. I hope Mica’s back is better by then. I’ve already promised that we’ll return sometime next year to go diving since I think that it’ll be too soon to go back to diving by then. Lots of heavy gear isn’t the best thing when you’re recovering from a back injury.
  • Work has been busy for other reasons too: one team I’m working on is just starting software development, so I’m busy supporting the software engineers with any questions they have on how things are supposed to work. The other team I just took over is busy in the test phase after the software has been built so I’m spending more and more time in the avionics integration lab. Lots of fun stuff, but a lot of work too.

So that’s about it for me. Hopefully, things will settle down here soon and I’ll be back to posting more.
